Fire safety solutions
Fire safety can be a complicated subject when it comes to specifying and designing cable management systems. To help support our customers we provide tested product solutions, helpful resources and our specialist team is always on hand to offer expert advice.
“What is the fire rating of your cable management products?”
Our cable management team is regularly asked for the fire rating of our systems. The simple answer is that there is no requirement or product standard that manufacturers of cable management systems and supports can test their products to or against. However, we are able to provide declarations of performance stating our Swifts cable tray and ladder and Salamandre trunking have been tested and withstood collapse for 90 minutes.

We have developed a range of materials to provide further learning opportunities for those who want to deepen their understanding of the regulatory landscape surrounding fire safety and potential product solutions.
Creating cable pathways guide
This guide provides assistance and recommendations on how to best specify cable containment systems to maximise fire safety, and how to create a cable pathway through a building whilst navigating the standards landscape.
Creating a cable pathway through a building CPD seminar
This seminar explains the updates of BS 7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition, focusing on escape routes and premature collapse, and ultimately how to maximise fire safety create a cable pathway through a building.
Fire stopping: Breaking the cycle of non-compliance CPD seminar
Providing discussion around the importance and relevance of fire stopping cable pathways, this CPD advises on issues relating to cable moves, additions and changes. It also demonstrates how to achieve successful fire protection and containment while breaking the cycle of non-conformance.
An EZ-Path to passive fire protection in the healthcare sector guide
The demand for access to data and mobile services means that the addition of new cables to a building’s infrastructure may be putting the effectiveness of the fire strategy at risk. This guide addresses one aspect of passive fire protection – electrical and data cabling installations.
Premature collapse and fire rated containment CPD seminar
This CPD explores the current UK standards landscape that applies to cable management systems, which don't currently require any fire testing, and offers an alternative standard as a solution to those looking for reassurance that their installations meet the requirements of both BS 7671:2019 and BS 8519:2020.
