Lux Level Sensing with Switching and Dimming Detectors

Switching Detectors with Lux Level Sensing

CP Electronics ceiling mounted PRM detectors have built-in adjustable lux sensors which will keep the lighting switched off if there is sufficient natural light. Our PRM detectors can be set up from ground level using our simple programming handsets. A time delay can be set to avoid nuisance switching with constantly varying lux levels.

Lux level sensing with absence or presence detection:

Lux level sensing with absence or presence detection: No presence detected, daylight, lights off.

No presence detected, daylight, lights off.

Lux level sensing with absence or presence detection: Presence detected, sufficient daylight, lights off.

Presence detected, sufficient daylight, lights off.

Lux level sensing with absence or presence detection: Presence detected, insufficient daylight, all lights on.

Presence detected, insufficient daylight, all lights on.

Direct Dimming Detectors with Lux Level Sensing

In addition to lux level sensing, the CP Electronics range of dimming detectors (DD) are able to provide automatic control of lighting output. A dimming detector can be used to control the light output of luminaires that are fitted with dimming ballasts.

This means the detector measures the overall light level in the detection area and regulates the output of the luminaires, ensuring the correct lux level (maintained illuminance) for the area. This leads to saving energy when natural daylight can be used to replace/supplement luminaires (daylight harvesting).

Using lux level sensing with CP Electronics detectors

In spaces like classrooms where you want a great level of natural light in the day, you also want a product that can reduce your energy usage, harvesting the power of the sunlight. That is where the dimming capability of our detectors come in and when dimming down to the minimum brightness is not enough, you can also switch of the lights completely to save even more power.

Our Vitesse Plus Modular range of devices provide both dimming and switching capabilities whilst allowing the dimming effect to be graduated brighter the further from the windows the fittings get.

This enables maximum energy savings whilst not affecting the comfort of the room. The lights closest to the windows can be dimmed down to the lowest setting or switched off completely, whist the next row can be dimmed down to a medium level and the third row left at 100%.
